In 1964 Coachmen RV Industries was founded by three brothers: Tom, Keith and Claude Corson. Now Coachmen RV is a Division of Forest River Inc. having been purchased by the Warren Buffet Company in December of 2008. Forest River paid 42 million for Coachmen Industries which made big news within the RV industry. Financial difficulties plagued the company well before the crash of 2008-2009 and the company was in serious trouble. Since the purchase by Forest River, Coachmen have made some big improvements. They have streamlined their operations and are focusing on what the customer wants.

The company’s primary manufacturing facilities are headquartered in Middlebury, Indiana on nearly 120 acres with approximately 11 acres under roof serving as a dedicated manufacturing facility for Coachmen branded Class A Motorhomes, Class C Motorhomes, Fifth Wheels, Travel Trailers, and Toy Haulers. After being purchased by Forest River, Coachmen RV was restructured as a “systems-built” housing company with a specialty vehicle business.

The company’s housing division, called the “Housing and Building Systems Group”, is one of America’s leading producers of modular homes. Recreation vehicles were Motorhome guidemanufactured under the Coachmen Recreation Vehicles, LLC, Sportscoach RV, Georgie Boy Manufacturing, LLC and Viking Recreation Vehicles, LLC brand names. Coachmen RV produces Class A motorhomes, Class C “mini” motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers, toy haulers  and folding camping trailers.
